vegan teriyaki tofu bowl

vegan teriyaki tofu bowl

Nothing inspires me to create in the kitchen more than a delicious and visually exquisite dinner out in my beloved Melbourne. Last night I enjoyed the pleasure of dinning at the little gem ‘Salon de Sushi’.

Inspired by their Poke Chirashi bowl, my version is in reality very dissimilar in terms of ingredients but I’m telling myself identical in essence. A variety of colours and textures, it’s a delight to prepare and to eat. Mostly raw and totally vegan, eating this sort of stuff gives your mind, body and soul all the goodness they need and makes eating clean a delight!

What to eat on Boxing Day…..

My favourite salads are the ones with a bunch of ingredients. They’re so exciting to eat. You never know what combination of textures and flavours you’re getting with each mouthful. Plus all of the colour makes them so beautiful. I love the feeling of excitement when I sit down to a colourful meal. No distractions, just me, my fork and my taste buds. This one was inspired by chicken roll leftover from Christmas lunch. It comes without exact measurements, as it really is just throwing things into a bowl. Just add more if you love the ingredient and less if not so much. Read more

spiced pumpkin & macadamia soup

spiced pumpkin & macadamia soup

I am quite in love with one. I think it’s magic. I can’t recall exactly how I came to putting these ingredients together, only that I was bored with regular ol’ pumpkin soup and wanted something creamy, comforting and flavoursome.

It’s perfect for grey rainy days and truly satisfying. The macadamia nuts give the most delicious creaminess and the spices are all that your tastebuds have ever dreamed of. To sum it up…thick, creamy, spiced and absolute heaven on a spoon.

Come in he said, have some green smoothie he said. I tried to decline politely, but he wouldn’t have it. I didn’t want to drink it. He insisted. I brought glass to mouth and took a reluctant sip. The delight. It was delicious. Who knew something that looked so terrible could taste superb. Utterly hooked.

easy peasy baked eggs with chickpeas

easy peasy baked eggs with chickpeas

The hardest part to this recipe is finding a delightful ceramic dish in which to bake your eggs. I am lucky enough to live 3 doors down from a pottery studio and was able to pick up a beautiful piece on my way home one day.

I was also super relieved as while shakshuka seems to be taking over the country, I rarely want cumin for breakfast. Read more

For the love of bread.
10986345_404391916429353_1635307886_n(1)I once dated a guy who told me that he loved bread. It wasn’t quite what he said but the way he said it, with such depth and passion. I wasn’t quite sure what to think upon hearing this statement. How could anyone feel so passionately about bread as to proclaim their love for it. That relationship didn’t last but I my relationship with bread has evolved some since then. I can go for weeks without tasting a crumb but once the craving hits… I’m helpless. Read more
